Lascassines
Situated in the Lot Valley, on the borders of the P้rigord in the Dordogne, 4 km from the medieval bastide town of Tournon-d'Agenais, the farm is typical of the region. Built of stone and brick and surrounded by oak woods, it has beautiful panoramic views across the valley towards the bastide.
The people here are friendly and welcoming. This is a rich farming and market garden region with fruit orchards, fields of sunflowers and corn, strawberries and early spring vegetables, famous for foie gras and duck, plums, mushrooms and cheese. The wines of Bergerac, Cahors, Duras and Bordeaux, are all around us. Tournon has a grocery store that carries most things, a butcher and a boulangerie, a pharmacy, post office, doctor and several bars and restaurants. There is a large supermarket at Fumel (12 km) and the busy market town of Villeneuve-sur-Lot (20 km) has good shopping, restaurants and an excellent market on Saturday mornings. Cahors is 35 km away.
The gites are equipped with all modern comforts and independent of our house, but we will be happy to help you with anything you need to know about the area. La Bergerie sleeps up to 6 people and has a large open living room/dining room with a fireplace and fully equipped kitchen area, tiled floors and beams and comfortable country furniture. The kitchen is equipped with an oven and hob, microwave, dishwasher and washing machine, fridge, coffee maker and toaster. It opens out onto a private terrace with garden furniture and a barbeque and the garden looking over the valley. There are three bedrooms, a bathroom with bath and shower, two separate wc's, central heating, television and a laundry room. Le Pigeonnier sleeps up to 4 people and is next to but completely independent of the main house. It has been restored maintaining its original character and has an open plan living room with a fully equipped kitchen area, television, two bedrooms and a bathroom with shower. The kitchen is equipped with a dishwasher and washing machine, microwave, oven and hob, fridge, coffee maker and toaster. There is also a private terrace with garden furniture and a barbecue and the garden. The two gites can be taken together and are ideal for two families or a group of friends. The pool is set in a garden full of trees and flowers and has a water slide. There is a swing and a sandpit and a games area with table tennis and badminton. We also have a pony and a donkey, which love any amount of attention. The Area
This is excellent cycling and walking country and there are a number of walks and mountain bike routes from here. Also good fishing on the River Lot and at several lakes within reach, particularly in April or May and in September and October. There is a golf course 25 km away, tennis courts (4 km), you can go parachuting (15 km), or canoeing on the river. There are also riding stables 10 km from here, where you can hire horses for an hour or a day and many lovely medieval bastide towns and villages, both here in the Lot et Garonne and in the Dordogne. Everywhere, from early Spring until late Autumn, there are numerous f๊tes, music and theatre festivals, country markets full of fresh local produce and bric a brac fairs. Travel Information
