You can explore the countryside for miles on mountain bikes and there are canal boating excursions from Beaucaire. Golf courses, a riding centre, tennis and water sports centres are all within reach and we are only 45 kms from the coast at Saintes Maries de la Mer. Beaucaire and Tarason close by, are pleasant to linger in and have all essential shops and restaurants, and markets on different days of the week. Some of the loveliest places in Provence are here; the Roman towns of Nîmes and Arles, with its association with the painter Vincent Van Gogh, and the ancient town of Avignon and its bridge made famous by the nursery rhyme, all less than half an hour away. Saint Rémy de Provence, the Uzège Valley and the Alpilles hills are all within a reasonable distance, as is the vast wildlife reserve of the Camargue, where you can see flocks of pink flamingos and migrant birds, and sometimes the herds of wild horses and bulls.
