La Guiarderie
Our 18th century farm is set in the heart of the countryside, 45 minutes from Poitiers, where we have four cottages, beautifully restored in the best tradition. Each cottage has a private terrace with a barbecue and superb views over the countryside. The south facing heated swimming pool is extra large and we have a steam room and jacuzzi to ease away stress and tension. We can also provide breakfast on your first day and dinner at any time, on request, delivered to the cottage.
Each of the cottages are individually comfortably furnished with television and DVD in the living room. The kitchens are all very well equipped and include a dishwasher and washing machine, oven and hob, microwave and fridge. Taken all together, they are ideal for large families or a group of friends. Saint Vincent-la-Chβtre has shops for everyday needs, Melle or Niort have a larger choice of shops and supermarkets and you can usually find a market going on most days, in one of the surrounding villages.
Turquoise has 5 bedrooms, sleeping up to 10 people. Once part of the old stables, it is next to Jade, another of the cottages, though each is quite private. Turquoise has a large open plan living room with a kitchen area and two en suite bedrooms on the ground floor. Upstairs are three bedrooms, one with an en suite shower room, the other two sharing another bathroom. Amethyste has 4 bedrooms and sleeps up to 9 people. The open plan living room and dining room with a corner kitchen, is south facing and opens onto the terrace. The fireplace makes it especially cosy and pleasant in early Spring and Autumn. There is also a bedroom on the ground floor and a bathroom and separate wc. There are three bedrooms upstairs, each with a private shower room, one of which has three single beds. Jade has 4 bedrooms and sleeps up to 8 people. The ground floor has a living room and kitchen, a bedroom and a bathroom specially adapted for those with reduced mobility. Of the three bedrooms upstairs, two share a bathroom and the third has an en suite shower room. There is also a separate wc. Topaz has 2 bedrooms and sleeps 4 people. The open plan living room and kitchen opens onto a private, south facing terrace. There is also a ground floor wc. Upstairs are two bedrooms with en suite shower rooms. The pool measures 12 x 6 metres, is terraced and equipped with sunbeds and parasols, and has a security alarm to ensure the safety of young children. There is also a poolside shower and wc. We have as well, a children's play area and table tennis and various other games are provided. The Area
There are miles of trails to walk or cycle straight from the house (bikes can be hired) and two riding stables for horse and pony trekking, 10 to 15 minutes from here. Take the bikes and a picnic and spend the day roaming around the beautiful Marais Poitevin 30 minutes away. The 18-hole Niort Golf Club and the Chateau des Forges Golf Club are roughly 30 and 40 minutes drive. There is also a large lake within easy driving distance with canoe-kayak and row boats and archery amongst other things. Beaches on the Atlantic coast at La Rochelle are just over an hour. Futuroscope, the huge technology park just outside Poitiers, has eye popping experiences and sensations for both children and adults. An hour from here is Cognac, the vineyards and the famous cognac houses of Courvoisier and Rιmy Martin amongst others. Travel Information
