La Villa Estelle
Villa Estelle is in the old Provence village of Cagnes-sur-Mer, in the heart of the Côte d'Azur on the Mediterranean coast, minutes from both Nice and Cannes. The villa dates from the 15th century and has been transformed by an interior designer into an exceptionally comfortable chambres d'hotes bed and breakfast. The large terrace with Florentine arches has a Mediterranean garden planted with palms, cypress and orange trees, bougainvillea, jasmine and white laurel. Comfort, relaxation and a warm, southern welcome is our prime concern.
Cagnes-sur-Mer has a great choice of gastronomic restaurants with menus that marry the flavours of the South with flair and imagination: Le Grimaldi, Le Cagnard, Entre Cour et Jardin and Fleur de Sel, amongst others. Everything is at hand. Nice, Cannes and the beaches are 15 minutes from here, St Jean Cap Ferrat, is 10 km, Antibes, 8 km and Monaco is 25 km from Cagnes. The villa has two large, individually decorated and furnished double rooms and three suites with views of the sea. All have private bathrooms and air-conditioning, satellite television and a mini bar.
La Chambre Saumon is a twin room on the first floor, decorated in an oriental style with a large en suite bathroom with bath. La Chambre Ocre is a double room on the ground floor looking onto the Italian terrace, decorated with engravings with a bathroom with bath. La Chambre Rose is a romantic suite on the first floor with marine paintings and a lovely view of the sea. The bathroom has a separate bath and shower. La Chambre Bleue is a suite for two on the second floor of the villa, decorated with a collection of doll's furniture, also with views of the sea. The bathroom has both a bath and a shower. La Chambre Céladon is a suite with an entrance hall, a double bedroom and a small sitting room that accommodate an extra person if required and a bathroom with bath. The guest sitting room is quiet and restful and breakfast is usually served on the terrace. There is also private parking.
The Area
The oldest part of the village is at the top of the hill around Chateau Grimaldi and a delight. Ancient stones worn by the centuries, shady narrow streets full of flowers, glimpses here and there of the Mediterranean and a sense of timelessness. There are several beaches within minutes of Cagnes and many others to choose from with a range of water sports. Boats can be hired in Cap d'Antibes. Golf courses include: The Victoria Golf Club, The Valbonne Golf Club, The Monaco Golf Club and The Royal Mougin Golf Club. The Renoir Museum in Cagnes-sur-Mer is set in beautiful gardens planted with century old olive trees. Others include the Marc Chagall Museum and the Museum of Modern Art in Nice, the Picasso Museum in Antibes and the Maeght Foundation in Saint Paul de Vence, which has one of the most important private collections of 20th century paintings and sculpture.
