Le Galant
Our house is near the village of Prιchacq-les-Bains an ancient spa, which lies beside the River Ardour, about 15 km from Dax. We have two villa apartments independent of the main house, set in a lovely garden with secluded spots and a swimming pool garden. The nearest beach is 45 minutes from here, Biarritz and Pau are roughly an hour.
Pontonx, 5 km away, has a choice of shops, a supermarket and restaurants and Dax is an easy drive. If you don't want to move too far, two local farms near the village have a range of home produced goodies, a baker passes by every day and the nearest restaurant is 2 km from the house. We will be happy to help with any local information you need to know while you are here. The villa has been divided into two separate apartments, each with 2 bedrooms, which can also be taken together by a large family or a group of friends.
Le Galant, the ground floor apartment, has an open plan living room with a dining area and corner kitchen with a sofa bed, chairs and television, two bedrooms opening onto the garden, one double the other a twin and a shower room. The kitchen is equipped with an oven and hob, microwave, washing machine and a fridge, as well as a kettle, toaster and coffee maker. The terrace has garden furniture and a barbecue. Le Galant 1, the upper apartment, has a separate entrance and a large terrace looking over the garden with outside furniture and a barbecue. The main living room has a salon area with a sofa bed, chairs and television, a dining area and a kitchen with a microwave, oven and hob, fridge, washing machine, kettle, coffee maker and toaster. There are two bedrooms, one double, the other with two single beds, plus a shower and wc. The garden and pool are there to be enjoyed by everyone and there is private parking. Bikes, various games, table tennis and Wi-Fi Internet access are provided.
The Area
The nearest beach at Vieux-Boucou has a range of water sports facilities and there are others in and around Biarritz, stretching along the coast down to Saint Jean de Luz and the Spanish border. The Ardour Valley takes you down to the foothills of the Pyrenees and a different world. Dax is a pleasant town with riverside walks, smart shops and numerous restaurants that has been famous as a spa since Roman times and is still hugely popular as a place to go for a range of relaxing, reasonably priced treatments. Worth a detour, is Montfort-en-Chalosse, a bastide town near Dax founded in the 14th century and beyond, Saint Sever, a small town famous throughout France for its great abby and weekly markets for foie gras and fat, corn fed chickens.
