Apartment In The Centre Of Les Arcs Rhone Alps
Bourg Saint Maurice, between Chambery and Lyon, in Eastern France
1 bedroom, sleeps 2 to 4 people
The Apartment
Bourg Saint Maurice is at the heart of the vast, spectacular ski area of Les Arcs in the Savoie Rhone Alps. Everything is at your feet. The apartment building is in the centre of town with direct access to the ski slopes, 3 minutes walk from the cable cars linking Bourg St Maurice from Les Arcs and close to shops, bars, restaurants and entertainments. Skiing, snowboarding, speed skiing, husky sleigh rides and glacier skiing in Winter, hiking, cycling, climbing, golf, fishing, rafting, paragliding, swimming, squash and tennis in Summer are just some of the sports to enjoy. A week is never enough! Children are always welcome and are well catered for.
The apartment is furnished in traditional style with all modern comforts and benefits from two balconies with views over the beautiful Haute Tarentaise valley and the village. The main room has a corner kitchen equipped with everything needed, including a fridge, oven and hob, coffee maker, kettle and toaster. The lounge area has two sofas, one a sofa bed if needed (two children's beds can be provided on request) and there is television, DVD and various games.
The apartment has a double bed and the bathroom has a bath, washbasin, wc and washing machine. Ideal for two couples or a couple with two children. Secure private parking is available at 20 € per week.
The Area
Skiers of all abilities can find numerous slopes to suit them and there several excellent ski schools (including children's) that cover a variety of snow sports. The Olympic Bobsleigh run is open between December and March. Restaurants in Bourg Saint Maurice and the surrounding area include Mexican, Thai, Cantonese and of course, classical French. Some of the most popular are Le Refuge, Le Tarteflette, Le Hostillerie du Petite Saint Bernard and, although it is situated in the small village of Le Pre about 20 minutes or so drive away, La Ferme, owned by Michel and his family is highly recommended (it can also be reached at the end of the Aiguille Rouge ski run from Arc 2000, snow permitting). All the restaurants are family run, friendly and welcoming and should be booked at least a day in advance. Summer is very different here, when the landscape reveals a different kind of beauty, forested peaks and high alpine meadows, pure mountain streams and small villages with baroque chapels and churches, decorated in the Tarentaise style. The valley has always been popular with climbers, walkers and cyclists. The road from Bourg-St-Maurice winds up to the Col du Petit St-Bernard and Italy. An old hospice founded by St Bernard in the 10th century, so legend has it, still stands as a tribute to the great importance of the pass. In the valley, the little ancient villages of Peisey and Nancroix have hardly changed at all and have great charm and character. Travel Information
