Country House Chambres d'Hôtes Bed and Breakfast
3 kms from Chenonceaux, in the Loire Valley
6 double rooms with private bathrooms. With pool.
Le Moulin de Francueil
Formally a watermill dating from 1850, Le Moulin is set in two acres of beautiful landscaped gardens surrounded by a river and several tributaries. A small lake, a waterfall and a charming pond at the bottom of the winter garden all contribute to a peaceful country feeling. Francueil is situated close to some of the most beautiful of the Loire châteaux, 3 kms from Chenonceaux, 15 kms from Amboise and 30 kms from Cheverny and Tours.
We have six bedrooms, all decorated in a different style and furnished with period furniture. Each has a private bathroom.
Lully, Le Nôtre, Marie-Antoinette, Duc de Choiseul and La Valliére are double bedrooms. Royale has a beautiful four poster bed. Three of the rooms can have extra beds added on request, suitable for a family of 3/4 people. A large salon with a fireplace, books and a piano and an interior winter garden are available to our guests. Breakfast is usually served in the winter garden. Dinner is also available on request and you are welcome to enjoy the gardens and swimming pool whenever you like. The Area
There is a good golf course 20 minutes away, tennis courts close by and riding stables 15 km from here. Some of the best wines the Loire produces are made near here and you can visit the vineyards around Cheverny (30 km) to taste and also visit the classical 17th century château itself, which has some fine paintings. Vouvray and Montlouis produce fine white wines and at Chinon, Bourgueil and Saint Nicolas de Bourgueil, you can sample some of the best of the Touraine reds. The city of Tours (30 km), the main centre for the wines of the area, has a feast of lovely buildings in the old part of the town, good shopping and restaurants. Amboise (15 km) lies on the Loire river and is dominated by its château, one of the oldest and most beautiful in the valley. It has very good food shops and restaurants and many lovely old buildings. Leonardo da Vinci spent the last years of his life here and his house in Clos-Lucé, now a museum dedicated to his life and work, has a delightful garden. The Loire Valley is famous for its fairytale châteaux and Chenonceau, still privately owned but open to visitors, is a must. It is built over the River Cher and has a splendid avenue leading up to a drawbridge and beautiful gardens laid out by Catherine de Médici. Children love the Touraine aquarium and the mini-châteaux park. We will be happy to help with anything you need to know. Travel Information
