Comfortable Bed and Breakfast on the Brittany Coast
Le Tronchet, next to the St Malo Golf Club, 10 km from Dinan
4 double rooms and a family suite with private bathrooms, television and mini-bar
Le Baillage
The elegant 17th and 18th century granite house is built on either side of a square tower, surrounded by lovely gardens, which run down to the St Malo Golf Club fairway and is situated in the village of Le Tronchet in the Mont Saint Michel Bay area, on the west coast of Brittany. The pretty town of Dinan (10 km) has lots of shops and good restaurants and the beaches of St Malo and Dinard are 20 kms away.
The great cathedral of Mont Saint Michel, which rises out of the sea on its island rock, is 25 kms from here and along the Atlantic coast you can find good seafood as well as other restaurants. The rooms we have here, three double, one twin and a suite with two bedrooms, suitable for a family or friends travelling together, are spacious and have been beautifully decorated by an interior designer and furnished with mainly Louis XV style furniture. Each has a private bathroom with bath and a television, two of the rooms have a mini bar.
There is a large living room with a fireplace and a satellite television, where you can relax as you like. A generous breakfast is served in the morning, which includes tea, coffee or chocolate, breads, croissant and home made pastries and jams, as well as fruit and juice. You are welcome to use the garden and there is outside furniture so that you can enjoy some quiet time under a shady tree. The Area
The St Malo Golf Club next to us, has 27-holes and is one of the best in Brittany. There are also tennis courts in the village and riding stables nearby, which will arrange treks through the forest and a lake a short walk away, which has good fishing. There are some lovely walks around us and beaches within 20 km. Brittany has a very varied landscape and inland areas are very different from the coast. Dol de Bretagne with its lovely half timbered houses is certainly worth a visit and there are many other places to explore, which make a pleasant day out. Dinan (10 km) has a lovely old world air about it with its medieval houses and castle, surrounded by the old city walls. It also has good shopping and a good choice of restaurants. Dinard and St Malo (20 km) are attractive fishing ports, Cancale has vast oyster beds (lunch?) and Bécheral is known as the city of books. The vast Château de Combourg once the home of the marquis de Châteaubriant, one of France's greatest statesman, is worth a detour and you can't leave without visiting Mont Saint Michel.
