Comfortable Bed and Breakfast in Champagne
Pressigny, between Langres and Dijon in the Haute-Marne
5 double or family rooms with bathrooms
La Maison Massin-Perrette
The 19th century house lies on the edge of the old village of Pressigny close to the borders of Burgundy, the Franche-Comté and Lorraine. Surrounded by countryside and forest, the house is a harmonious mixture of traditional architecture, which has evolved over the centuries to make a charming home. Langres and Bourbonne-les-Bains (30 km) and Dijon (80 km) all have good shopping, restaurants and cafes.
The five bedrooms, named Paul, Jeanne, André, Madeleine and Perrette after family predecessors, are on the first and second floors of the house. They each have a bathroom with a shower and are individually decorated and very comfortably furnished. Madeleine is a family suite, which can accommodate two to four people and all the rooms look out over the gardens and countryside where horses graze. On the ground floor is a large library with television and books and information about the region. The living room has marble fireplaces dating from 1855 and the dining room has a warm and relaxing atmosphere.
The garden has garden furniture and on fine days breakfast is served outside. Dinner is available on request and also taken outside on pleasant evenings. There is a large garage for parking and bicycles are available. The Area
There are lots of lovely places to walk, ride (stables close by) or cycle through the forests or on quiet country lanes. There is a swimming pool and a covered tennis court in the village and within a radius of 30 km, there are four lakes where you can fish, swim and canoe. The village of Fayl-Billot (8 km) is known for its basketware and you can watch them being made by the artisans. Flights over the Pressigny countryside or the Langres plateau can be arranged at the local airfield; microlights are also available. About 25 km away is the Château de Champlitte, which has a museum of traditional arts and many places near here, where you can find and taste champagne and local wines, cheeses and artisan made beers. Langres (30 km) is an ancient fortified town with 2000 years of history and today a busy centre with shops, restaurants and cafes. Bourbonne-Les-Bains (30 km), Vittel and Contrexéville (70 km) are lovely spa towns, worth seeing. Vittel has been a spa since Roman times and is famous for its mineral water. Dijon (80 km) is a grand old town, largely impervious to fashion with lots of fine art and architecture, known not only for the huge variety of mustard that is produced there, but for its excellent food shops and famous restaurants.
