Situated in a sunlit clearing, surrounded by alpine meadow and forest with a backdrop of mountains peaks, the location of the chalet is truly idyllic. Close to the centre of the village of Thorens Glières, the chalet lies not far from the Swiss border between Lake Geneva and the medieval town of Annecy, in the heart of the Haute Savoie. Chamonix and Mont Blanc are a 35 minute drive away and Italy is an hour, via the Mont Blanc tunnel.
Domaine de la Sapinière is an ancient farmhouse that has been completely renovated to an extremely high standard and combines traditional Savoyard charm with modern comforts. There are nine comfortable bedrooms, all with private facilities and a separate wc. Two of the rooms have a double and single bed and sleep three people. Three have a double bed and a set of bunk beds, sleeping four people.
Three further bedrooms sleep five people, two with a double bed, a single bed and a double bed on a mezzanine, and one with a double bed, a single bed and a set of bunk beds. The remaining room can accommodate up to seven people in a double bed, a single and two sets of bunk beds. There is a large restaurant with a separate seating area around a big 18th century fireplace, a barbecue and a terrace offering magnificent views of the surrounding mountains and countryside. From the chalet itself, there are gentle cross-country walks, horse riding, cross-country skiing and mountain biking, suitable for all standards, along marked trails. Within close proximity is a wealth of recreational activities to be enjoyed. In less than twenty minutes you can go parachuting, climbing, fishing, swimming, scuba diving, hang-gliding, or play tennis or golf. In winter, the family ski resort of Orange offers alpine skiing for beginners. The chalet also makes an ideal base from which to go to many of the large ski resorts of the region, giving you enormous variety and the opportunity to go where the snow is best. Within thirty to forty-five minutes are Le Grand Bornand, La Clusaz, Les Gets, Flaine, Morzine-Avoriaz, Samoens and Chamonix. We have an experienced ski and mountain guide who can accompany or suggest trips for both adults and children. Annecy (20 minutes) at the tip of the lake bordered by orchards and meadows, is a town filled with gardens and flowers. The picturesque old quarter is a must to visit, with its little canals lined with warm, coloured houses and streets with old arcades. There is a wide choice of shops and restaurants with markets on Tuesdays, Fridays and Sundays. Stunning views of Mont Blanc from the 12th century Château de Montrottier. Travel Information
