Five Self Catering Apartments in the Loire
Near Loches, an hour from Poitiers. Heated covered pool.

La Varenne
La Varenne is an 18th century farm with barns, which have been made into five independent self catering g๎te apartments. The owners live in the main house. It is quietly situated in countryside with four hectares of gardens where children can run about freely, about a hectare of which has been made into a games area for both adults and children. This includes a covered, heated swimming pool that can be used at any time of year. We also keep horses on the farm.
The house is 2 kms from a village, which has a friendly cafe and is 7 kms from a supermarket. The lovely old town of Loches, which has a greater selection shops and restaurants, is 12 kms from here and within a reasonable drive are villages, that have markets on different days of the week, many of the village are centred around a chโteau, some of which are open to visitors. Each apartment has its own terrace with garden furniture and a barbecue and use of the swimming pool between 8am and 8pm. They all have satellite television.
Althea, built in the 19th century of white stone, has two bedrooms, each with a shower room and wc. One of the bedrooms has a king size bed and the other has double bunk beds and a single bed. There is also a separate wc. The living room is furnished with a sofa and armchairs and the corner kitchen is fully equipped, including a dishwasher and washing machine, oven and hob and fridge. It also has a cot and highchair and sleeps up to 5 people. Le Laurier, also built at the beginning of the 19th century, is next to Althea and is laid out in much the same way with the same facilities. One of the two bedrooms has a king size bed and the other is a twin bedroom. It sleeps 5 people comfortably. Les Lilas is part of the Longhouse, built at the end of the 18th century. It still has the lovely old original beams and wood floors, a living room and corner kitchen with a fridge, oven and hob and a dishwasher (no washing machine). There are two bedrooms, one double room, the other a twin room and a bathroom with shower. It sleeps 5 people but is also ideal for 2 people. Le Jasmin is part of the Longhouse and has a main living room/dining room with a corner kitchen equipped with oven and hob, dishwasher, fridge and washing machine and two bedrooms. One of the bedrooms is a double room with a bathroom with shower and the other is a twin room with a bathroom with bath. There is a single bed in the loft conversion accessed via the second bedroom, which would be ideal for a teenager and there is also a separate wc. It sleeps 6 people. La Glycine has a tiled dining room on the ground floor with a corner kitchen that is equipped like the others, and two bedrooms. One is a double bedroom, the other a children's room with bunk beds. There is a separate wc and a bathroom with shower. Upstairs is an attractive, spacious living room with sofa and chairs, an open fireplace and exposed beams and satellite television. An extra single bed can be put in a corner of one of the rooms, if required. There is also a third double bedroom with a bathroom and wc. A cot and highchair can be provided on request and the apartment sleeps up to 7 people.
The Area
Outdoor games are available from May onwards weather permitting. We have games like boules, volley-ball and table tennis (please bring your own bats and balls) as well as the pool and there are tennis courts and riding stables 2 kms from here. There is a good golf course about 40 kms away and 13 kms from here is a huge forest with lots of wildlife. Ligueil (7 kms) has a markets on Monday mornings and Loches (12 kms) has markets on Wednesday and Saturday mornings, full of farm fresh fruit and vegetables, local hams and cheeses, bread, fish, meat and flowers, sometimes wild mushrooms, sometimes home made preserves. There are also numerous local restaurants to choose from. Just outside Poitiers, an hour from here, is Futuroscope, a large science and technology park that both adults and children can enjoy. The old part of Poitiers is pleasant to walk around and there are lots of good shops and museums. Further away just outside Paris, is Disneyland Paris (3.5 hours driving). Travel Information

Parents are responsible for the supervision of their children at all times. A non returnable deposit of 150 per week is requested on booking to confirm with the remainder paid 6 weeks before arrival, together with a returnable damage deposit of 150
