La Villa
At the turn of the 19th century onwards, Le Touquet, its excellent golf courses, vast sandy beach and typical Anglo-Normandy villas, became one of the most fashionable places to stay along the coast. It still has a quiet period atmosphere and has become perhaps, more attractive. The town is set amongst woodland at the mouth of the River Canche and has lots of shops, restaurants, including several good seafood ones, sports facilities, casinos and a pretty seafront promenade. Market days are Monday, Thursday and Saturday.
The villa has a great family atmosphere, ideal for a family or group of friends who want to take a break for a week or two near a beach, or for a golfing holiday, or both! The beach and the town centre are 5 minutes from the villa and there are two golf courses to choose from. The ground floor has a large living room/dining room with a corner fireplace and big windows on three sides. The kitchen is equipped with a dishwasher, an oven and hob, washing machine, dryer and a fridge/freezer. There is also a downstairs cloakroom.
The first floor has three double bedrooms, one of which has a bathroom that can be accessed by the other double room via the landing. The third bedroom has a shower room with a wash basin. The wc's are separate. The second floor has a large, very pretty double room with a bathroom. The fifth bedroom is a single room, which has access to the bathroom via the landing and there is a separate wc. The villa has television in the salon and in the larger bedrooms on each floor with video and DVD. The garden is enclosed and quite private from neighbouring villas, so children can run about freely. The Area
Le Touquet has long been a favourite sailing destination, so you can do some yacht spotting at the marina, which is an easy walk from the villa. The beach is huge and has all kinds of water sports facilities including speed sailing and sand yachting. There is an aero club, tennis courts and riding stables; bicycles can be hired in town. The golf courses are just over a kilometre from the villa, one is an 18-hole, the other a 9-hole. The area has lots picturesque towns and villages, which have an undeniable charm. Montreuil-sur-Mer in particular with its ancient houses and cobbled streets is worth a stop. Etaples is a pretty fishing port where you can buy fish straight from the boats early in the morning, or at the Tuesday and Friday markets there. La Marquenterre is a marvellous bird sanctuary where you can lose yourself happily for the day. Travel Information
