Les Gites et Chambres d'Hôtes de Chanzé
Meticulously restored in Renaissance style, the Château Chanzé has stood on the banks of the River Layon, a tributary of the Loire, since the 11th century. A significant night in the Château’s history was when King Henry IV slept here in 1576 on a journey south. The château lies between Angers (30 kms) on the Loire river and Saumur (35 kms). Thouarcé, 2 km from here, has a supermarket, butcher, bank, pharmacy and a bakery.
We wish to make your visit as pleasant and welcoming as possible. All our gîtes and suites are are individually decorated and furnished, spacious and well equipped with modern comforts, which include underfloor heating, air conditioning, satellite television, telephone and internet connection. Bed and Breakfast Suites Suites 2 Anjou, 3 Touraine, 4 Aubance (30 m2) each sleep 2 to 4 people. The living room area has a double sofa bed (160 x 180cm), the mezzanine has another double bed (160 x 180) and there is a shower room and toilet. Room 5 Saumur (22 m2) is ideal for 1 or 2 people and wheelchair friendly. The room has twin beds (90 x 200cm), a bathroom and toilet. Room 6 Cabernet (22m2) is a master bedroom with 2 beds (90 x 200cm), satellite television, telephone and internet access with a bathroom with shower and wc.
The Gîtes The complex may be taken as a whole for up to 30 people for special celebrations, friend and family reunions or group wine tasting visits. The gîtes are available on self catering basis. They each have a corner kitchen equipped with a dishwasher and fridge, a microwave and an oven and hob. Gîte 1 (63 m2) can accommodate between 2 and 5 people. There is an open plan living room area with a double sofa bed (160 x 200cm) and a corner kitchen. It has two bedrooms, one double 140 x 200cm) , one single (90 x 200cm) and there are two bathrooms, one with a shower and toilet, the other with a bath and a separate toilet. Gîte 1 Chinon (44 m2) accommodates 4 or 5 people. It has an open plan kitchen with a fridge, dishwasher, oven and hob, microwave and living room area with a sofa bed (80 x 190cm), satellite television, telephone and internet access. There is a mezzanine with 2 single beds (90 x 200cm), a double bedroom (140 x 200cm) and a bathroom with shower and wc. Gîte 7 Bourgeuil (63 m2) can accommodate between 2 and 5 people. There is an open plan living room area with a double sofa bed (160 x 200cm) and a corner kitchen. It has two bedrooms, one double (140 x 200cm), one single (90 x 200cm) and there are two bathrooms, one with a shower and toilet, the other with a bath and a separate toilet. Gîte 8 Sancerre (60 m2) sleeps between 2 and 5 people. The living room has a corner kitchen and a double sofa bed (160 x 200cm). There is a bedroom with a double bed (160 x 200cm) and one or two single beds (90 x 200cm), and a bathroom with a bath and toilet, plus a separate toilet. Gîte 9 Bonnezeaux (90 m2) accommodates 2 to 6 people. There is a living room with a double sofa bed (160 x 200cm) and a kitchen. There are two bedrooms, one double (160 x 200cm), the other a twin (90 x 200cm). There is also a bathroom and two separate toilets.
The Area
How you spend your time here is entirely up to you, but the choice includes, visiting other Loire Valley castles, viewing churches and monasteries, trips to nearby towns (Angers and Saumur), shopping in Paris, theatre and concert performances, exhibitions, experiencing the wine culture. B&B prices are per night Breakfast, bed linen, towels and pool included The Gîte prices are per week Saturday to Saturday arriving at 4pm departing at 10am Alternative days of arrival and departure are possible. For weekend please enquire prior to reservation. Included in the price are all services, bed linen and towels, as well as weekly and end of stay cleaning, electricity, heating and pool. A deposit of 25% is requested on booking with the remainder paid on arrival
