Manor House Chambres d'Hôtes in Normandy
Le Pin, between Deauville and Honfleur, Northern France
3 Bed and Breakfast rooms with bathrooms
Manoir de la Pomme
La Pomme is an equestrian estate of roughly fifteen hectares of beautifully kept grounds with a main house, built in place of the château that was destroyed during the war, paddocks and stables and peaceful park and gardens. Those who can bring their own horses are welcome. We are 2 kms from Le Pin, a friendly, country village near Pont L'Evêque, famous for its cheese, and Lisieux, 20 kms from Deauville, 25 kms from Honfleur and the beaches. Caen is 45 kms from here.
Apart from being great horse country, this part of Normandy is considered by many to produce the finest Calvados brandy, a range of marvellous ciders and some of the best food to be had in France. Mountainous dishes drowning in cream, butter and cider or spiked with Calvados, mouthwatering tarts made with apples or pears, beignets, sweet apple fritters that you can find in any boulangerie and often in the markets and everywhere, but especially along the coast, super-fresh seafood. There are four hectares of parkland around the house with centuries old trees and some gorgeous walks. The chambres d'hotes are in a modern house, near to the stables housed in a traditional Normandy style building with exterior colombage beamed walls, and are a comfortable and welcoming base from which to enjoy this area or as an en-route stop.
There are three bedrooms in total, the first is a large double room with an en-suite bathroom, the second is a large twin room with a shower room (wc on the landing) and the third is a family room with two beds and a second twin bedroom with a private bathroom on the landing, suitable for a family or friends travelling together. There is a library and a sitting room with television, where a generous breakfast to set you up for the day is served. There is also an outside terrace to sit out and relax on and enjoy the view. The Area
Winding country lanes between the small towns of Cambremer, Beuvron-en-Auge, Bonnebosq and Beaufour-Druval take you off the beaten track, past orchard farms that make cider and calvados, many of which you can visit to taste and see how it is made. Anyone interested in horses can also visit any of several well known studs in the area, which we will be happy to tell you about. The Honfleur road from Pont-l'Evêque, takes you past the château at St André d'Hebertot and the old church at Beuzeville. Honfleur is as picturesque as ever and still attracts writers and painters as it has done for over two hundred years. Tall houses jostle around the harbour and the 16th century governor's residence. The medieval church of Ste Catherine in the main square, built entirely of wood by the local shipbuilders of the time, who were too impatient to wait for the stonemasons, still stands. Close to Deauville is Trouville, a pleasant coastal town with lovely promenades, beaches and wonderful cliff walks. Deauville has always been very fashionable and cosmopolitan and has a range of smart shops excellent restaurants and a lively night life. Regattas are held regularly, there is a race course and people come from everywhere for the yearling sales. Polo, bridge, tennis and golf tournaments are also regularly held. Travel Information
