Beach Front Apartment with pool in Nice
On the Promenade des Anglais, on the Côte d'Azur, South of France
1 bedroom, sleeps 2/4 people. Air-conditioned.
The Apartment
Nice is regarded as the capital of the Côte d'Azur and is in a beautiful, romantic setting, surrounded by a circle of low hills behind and the startling blue of the Mediterranean beyond the graceful Promenade des Anglais and the beach. There are some marvellous shops near the apartment and a range of restaurants to suit every taste from classical French to Mexican and wonderful flower and fruit and vegetable markets in the old part of town, full of the colours and scents of Provence.
You can hire sailboats and windsurfers, go jet-skiing, water skiing or diving at one of several sub-aqua clubs at the port. Nice has an excellent golf course and there are several others notably in Mougins, close to Cannes, and Monaco. An easy drive will take you deep into the hills and another world, to walk or cycle, or just to enjoy lunch. The old village of Cimiez on the hill behind the centre of Nice has two a museums, one devoted to Matisse, the other to Chagall. The apartment is in an apartment building on the Promenade des Anglais overlooking the Mediterranean, close to the Casino Ruhl and the Palais de la Méditerranée. It is small, air-conditioned, well designed and comfortable with a balcony that has lovely views over the bay. The apartment building has lifts and a swimming pool on the lower level.
There is an entrance hall with wardrobe cupboards and drawers that leads to the main room and the bathroom. The apartment is pleasantly furnished with a dining table for four, bookshelves, a coffee table and television and a sofa bed if needed. The kitchen area has an oven and hob, microwave, fridge and washing machine. The bedroom leads off the main room and can be made up as either a double or a twin room. The bathroom has a bath/shower and a vanity unit with a separate wc. The Area
The Nice Carnival, when the whole town celebrates Mardi Gras for two weeks is in February, followed by the Jazz Festival in July. The Cannes Film Festival and the Monaco Grand Prix are usually held at the end of May, early June. Villefranche-sur-Mer is a delightful old fishing port with a fine beach, just beyond Cap Ferrat on the way to Monaco. The parks and gardens in Monte Carlo are very beautiful and near the Grand Prix hairpin bend, is the Galéa museum, which houses one of the finest collection of dolls in the world. Monaco itself has a pleasant old world atmosphere. Close to the palace is the Jardin Exotique, which has thousands of cacti and other succulents as well as breathtaking views across to Monte Carlo. Worth a visit too, is the Oceanographic Museum, which has more than 4000 species of fish from all over the world. Menton on the Italian border is less than an hour's drive from Nice.
