Château Chambres d'Hôtes Bed and Breakfast in the Dordogne
In the Pécharmant vineyards near Bergerac in Southwest France
5 double bedrooms with bathrooms
Chateau Les Farcies du Pech'
Pécharmant is an area of small individual vineyards just north of Bergerac that produce a particularly distinctive red wine, rarely exported but well known and appreciated within France and chosen by President Jacques Chirac to celebrate France's World Cup victory in 2000.
Les Farcies lies in the middle of our own vineyards here, a fine 18th century château set in eight hectares of lovely park and gardens. We hope that you will enjoy this little corner of paradise and enjoy too, discovering the pleasures of our wines.
Each of the bedrooms have been decorated and furnished in keeping with the style and period of the château. They are all double bedrooms with private bathrooms that have either a shower or bath. Each bedroom has satellite television. There are several salons to relax in and a dining room where breakfast is served. We are also happy to provide light snacks on request. The Area
Bergerac itself is 5 minutes away by car. It lies on the banks of the Dordogne river and has an attractive old centre and a good Saturday morning market. There are several restaurants and open air cafes in the old part of town and you can take boat trips on the river. To the south of Bergerac are the Monbazillac vineyards that mass around the beautiful château perched on the hill above them, which produce a semi-sweet white wine, delicious on its own and especially good with foie gras or pastries. Within easy distance are tennis courts, which are open to everyone, a good golf course 25 kms from here, there are hire bases for canoe/kayaks on the river and several places to do some fishing. The little village of Issigeac has a popular Sunday morning market and is a delight to walk around. It also has a very good restaurant. Following the river east from Bergerac are a series of charming riverside villages and dramatically situated châteaux, as far as the 13th century village of Domme. One side of Domme falls in a sheer drop to the river below and there is an esplanade, which gives magnificent views over the river valley towards the feudal castle of Beynac. Beyond there is Sarlat with its beautiful, twisting, honey coloured cobbled streets and bustling markets on Wednesday and Saturday mornings. The medieval streets are packed with numerous restaurants and cafés and, during the summer months, street entertainers, who provide lively entertainment during the evenings. Périgueux cathedral, designed by the architect of Sacre Coeur in Paris, is a beautiful backdrop to the weekly Wednesday morning markets and the town has some excellent food shops. Travel Information
