Le Laussou, between Monflanquin and Villeréal, in South West France
3 double rooms and a family room. Dinner available on request.
Bégou
Bégou is a traditional barn, which has been lovingly converted and decorated, giving a light, airy feeling throughout, whilst also providing all modern comforts. The original oak beams and ancient bread oven have been preserved and add much charm. It is set in a hectare of gardens, surrounded by beautiful countryside with lovely open views. It is situated near the village of Le Laussou, between the picturesque bastide towns of Monflanquin and Villeréal, in the Lot-et-Garonne region of South West France, close to the borders of the Lot and the Dordogne.
The market towns of Villeneuve-sur-Lot and Bergerac are a comfortable 30 minutes drive away and have a large choice of shops and supermarkets and a market on Saturday mornings. Awarded 3 stars for comfort and charm, there are 4 bedrooms available to choose from; a double with an en suite shower room, a triple with a private bathroom, a further double bedroom and a twin bedroom that share a large shower room. Tea and coffee making facilities are available in all rooms. A cot is also available on request at no extra charge.
Guest are welcome to use the big salon, which is comfortably furnished and has satellite television. There are also lots of books and general information about the region, including recommended local restaurants. Dinner is available on request and breakfast is served on the terrace. A large shaded terrace looks out over the grounds, where you can relax and unwind around the pool or wander around the gardens taking in the lovely views on all sides or meander through the small shady wood. The Area
Every day you could visit a different market somewhere, each with their individual character. There are so many wonderful cafés and restaurants that you may want to work off the excess by walking or cycling, riding, or just relax and fish. There are stunning medieval villages and towns nearby and several châteaux, some housing exhibitions of different types. The great castle of Biron, perched high on a hill, dominates the countryside for miles and has stunning views. Bonaguil is an extraordinary feudal fortress, which has open-air evening concerts during the summer, often given by international performers. Monflanquin still has an arcaded central market square surrounded by fine medieval houses, a weekly market and several good restaurants. Over the border in the Dordogne are the prehistoric caves and cave paintings of Lascaux and Les Eyzies and around Bergerac, the vineyards of Monbazillac and Pérchamant. Travel Information
