Country Chambres d'Hôtes Bed and Breakfast with pool
Couze et Saint Front, 20 minutes from Bergerac in the Dordogne
4 double rooms with bathrooms
Le Relais de Belle Vue
Twenty kilometers from Bergerac, close to the left bank of the Dordogne river is the little village of Couze et Saint Front and the pretty Couze Valley. Belle-Vue is set in seventeen partly wooded hectares, surrounded by nothing except peace and beauty, in an area that is made for walking and cycling, unwinding and dawdling.
The chambres d'hôtes rooms are in three separate houses, two in two individual cottages and two in the main house. La Chambre de la Vielle Ferme, so called because it is in the original 13th century farmhouse, is built of warm honey coloured stone with beams and has a delicious county charm. It has twin beds, a bathroom with a separate wc and is furnished with old country furniture. A third bed can be provided on request.
La Chambre du Pool-House is recent and ideal either for a couple or a single person. There is a double bed and a bathroom shower and separate wc. La Chambre Blanche is on the ground floor of the main house and has its own entrance. Furnished in Louis XV style with paintings and an Aubusson carpet, it has a double bed and a large bathroom with views towards the wood. The Studio is on the first floor of the house and has a view on one side of the garden and on the other of the pool and woodland. There is a double bed and a sofa bed suitable for children and a bathroom with bath, two washbasins and a shower with a separate wc. There are three terraces with garden furniture and the pool has a hydro current and has been built with aqua sports in mind with a depth of 1.30 metres throughout. We have table tennis, boules, croquet and there are also bicycles. Breakfast is served either by the pool or in the house and we can provide you with a hamper, drinks included, for picnics or light lunches and supper, on request. The music room has two pianos, and we occasionally have music evenings when music lovers and professional musicians perform various eclectic pieces. We also give Astrology classes for those who are interested in the influences that surround their life. The Area
Near Couze and still on the left bank of the Dordogne is the village of Lanquais, which has a beautiful part Gothic, part Renaissance château with some magnificent sculpted chimney pieces and fine antique furniture. A drive through the valley brings you to Beaumont, a pleasant little medieval bastide town and a good place perhaps for lunch. Beyond Beaumont is Cadouin, which lies on the edge of the Bessède forest and is famous for its Cistercian Abbey, which has a splendid cloister and for centuries was one of the great pilgrim stops on the way to St Jacques de Compostelle. Bergerac has a lovely old quarter, good shopping, restaurants and cafés, a big market on Saturday mornings and a succession of events throughout the year. The Monbazillac vineyards are to the south of the town, the tiny Pécharmant vineyards are just to the north. Périgueux is 50 kms from here. Travel Information
