Château Chambres d'Hôtes Bed and Breakfast in Calvados
Mosles, close to Bayeux and the Normandy Landing Beaches
5 rooms with private bathrooms
Chateau d'Argouges
An avenue of century old lime trees leads to the château, which has splendid views over a countryside that could only be Normandy. Argouges is set in lovely park and gardens that have evolved over the years to give a peaceful feeling of continuity to a family home, fashioned by time and lovingly cared for.
Mosles is a few minutes drive from Omaha Beach and some of the other D-Day Landing beaches stretching along to Arromanches, which, apart from reminders of that time, are also some of the most unspoilt sandy beaches on the coast. Bayeux is 10 kms from here, an attractive, historic town and home of the extraordinary tapestry, which chronicals the Battle of Hastings in 1066. Camembert, cider, calvados brandy and fresh seafood, green pastureland, apple orchards and, some of the best food to be had in France, make up some of the delights of Normandy.
Awarded 4 epis for comfort and charm, the whole château is at the disposal of our guests and we have tried to make it as welcoming as possible with an attention to detail. The salon is a pleasant room to relax in quietly, read and watch television, there is all sorts of local information in the library, or you can have a challenging game of pool in the billiard room. The other salon is where breakfast is served. The second floor has a suite of two double rooms that share a bathroom and another double room with a four poster bed and an en-suite bathroom. The third floor has two double bedrooms and a bedroom for three people, each with their own bathrooms. There is a hectare of garden to wander about in, garden furniture and croquet. The Area
Our guests can benefit from a 15% reduction on green fees at the Omaha Beach Golf Club and Port-en-Bessin, 5 minutes from here, has a 27-hole international golf course. It also has a choice of excellent seafood restaurants. Restaurants in Bayeux have more traditional menus. Normandy is great horse country and riding is perhaps one of the best ways of really getting off the beaten track and seeing the country. The stables in Colleville-sur-Mer cater for all levels of experience. Water sports centres along the coast have facilities for just about everything; diving, wind-surfing, catamaran sailing, kayaking. Brécy to the south of Bayeux has a fine château with beautiful gardens. Further south again, the forest of Cerisy has some marvellous walks and there is nothing better after all this, than a glass of fine, old calvados. Travel Information
