Holiday Homes In France
Lakeside Hotel-Restaurant in Champagne-Ardenne
Bourbonne-les-Bains, between Chaumont and Langres in the Haute-Marne
115 double rooms, studios and apartments. Private fishing, gym and sauna.
Hôtel du Lac La Mézelle
Our hotel lies beside a huge lake just outside Bourbonne-les-Bains, a lovely spa town famous for relaxing treatments and cures. Bourbonne is in the Haute-Marne on the borders of three regions, Burgundy, Lorraine and the Franche Comté, so you have the best of all worlds at your feet. The market town of Chaumont enjoys a lovely position between two rivers and Langres, at the gates of Burgundy, is a world apart, dignified and old. Reims or Epernay, the centre of the champagne vineyards, are about 2.5 hours from here, Calais, Paris or Lyon are all roughly 3 hours drive.
We aim to provide a pleasant, relaxed base to stay in and enjoy the pleasures of this part of France. Our staff are friendly and attentive. Our restaurant has a range of reasonably priced menus and an excellent local reputation. We also have private fishing on the lake, a fitness room and sauna, bicycles and a volleyball pitch. A shuttle bus runs between the hotel and the town every morning, except Sunday.
We have 115 double rooms, studios or apartments, suitable for 1 or 2 people, families or friends travelling together. Each room has either a balcony or private terrace overlooking the lake or the garden. Full or half-board rates available.
The restaurant overlooks the lake and is open for breakfast, lunch, tea (try our home baked pastries) and dinner. All or any of these can be ordered and delivered to your room on request.
Bourbonne-les-Bains has been known as a spa town since Roman times and is the only one in the Champagne-Ardennes. Sheltered by the Langres plateau, it is known locally as Little Provence because of its warm, gentle climate. There is good shopping and a choice of bistros, cafes and restaurants. A range of restorative thermal treatments is available to anyone. We will be happy to help and advise.
We have a few bicycles for hire and there are a number of places around the lake to fish. The gym and sauna are available at any time during the day and there are pedaloes, a volleyball pitch and sun beds. Bourbonne has a large swimming pool that is open to all.
You can easily spend a day or two in Burgundy or Lorraine and the Franche Comté, if you have the time, each is as different from one another as the cheese!
Langres (45 minutes) is full of history, old and august and has adapted well to change through the centuries. The town sits on a high plateau encircled by medieval city wall with towers and church spires soaring above. There are stunning views across the Marne Valley from the ramparts to as far away as the Vosges and the Alps. A maze of tiny streets and covered passageways through the town reveal an ancient mosaic of Bacchus and graceful sculptures, elegant Renaissance houses and lead to the vast 12th century Cathedral at the heart of the town. Music, theatre and sporting events are held regularly throughout the year.
We look forward to welcoming you.
