Country House Bed and Breakfast in Brittany
Miniac Morvan, close to Dinard, Saint Malo and beaches
2 en-suite double rooms B&B. 1 bedroom self-catering garden gite.
La Binellerie
La Binellerie is an 18th century Breton gentilhommière in Miniac Morvan, a short drive from Saint Malo and Dinard and numerous beautiful beaches along the magnificent Brittany and Normandy coastline. Ideal as a base for a family or friends travelling together, a few days on the beach, a golfing break or as an en route stop. We have two bed and breakfast rooms in the main house, which is also the oldest part of the property, and a large, comfortable sitting room.
The courtyard and gardens have quiet places to relax in and are home to a great variety of bird life, the occasional nomadic wild deer or duck and frogs who live in the natural pond. All the produce from our fruit trees and vegetable garden is used in our evening meals. We also have a one bedroom self-catering apartment for those who prefer to be independent. We are within easy reach of the medieval town of Dinan with its ancient rampart walks and pretty cobbled streets and close to one of the most popular and famous places in France, Le Mont Saint Michel, approximately 30 minutes drive away. The great chateau in Combourg was home to the writer Chateaubriand, whose chef invented the well known steak named after him. Cancale is famous for its oyster beds and seafood restaurants.
The house has been sympathetically renovated, retaining all the original oak beams and is furnished with a mix of traditional and ethnic pieces. We have 2 B&B rooms, one double room with an en-suite shower and wc and one twin room with a private shower and wc that have tea and coffee making facilities. Hairdryers are provided and there is Wi-Fi Internet connection. The sitting room has satellite television, CD, Blu-ray and video players. Breakfast is served on the terrace and includes croissants and homemade preserves. Relax and unwind with an aperitif in the garden or if you prefer, enjoy a three course dinner, including wine. A typical menu would be: Figs stuffed with brie wrapped in parma ham. Lemon roasted chicken with fresh vegetables. Summer pudding. The Garden Gite for 2 has a comfortable sitting room with a woodburning stove (firewood is provided during the colder months), both satellite and French TV, and a DVD player. There is a bar dining area and a hand made fitted kitchen with electric oven, gas hob and combi oven, a fridge freezer, washing machine and dishwasher. The separate double bedroom leads into an en-suite shower room through a wide door, so is suitable for guests with limited mobility. Outside you can enjoy views of the garden and countryside beyond from the patio which has table and chairs and an essential BBQ.
The Area
La Binellerie is a short drive from numerous beaches, many offering water sports including wind surfing, kite surfing, sand yachting and day-boat hire. There are also some pretty villages with beaches on the river Rance, and here you can hire a canoe or kayak, cycle or just stroll beside the river. Just a few minutes walk from La Binellerie is a riding centre. There are some excellent golf courses with clubhouse facilities at Golf des Ormes and at the St Malo Golf Club at Le Tronchet, the nearest one being only 20 minutes drive away. There is also a Links Course near Dinard. For children, apart from the beaches, there are many things to keep them amused: Cobac Park, a water adventure park, is 20 minutes away. In the Villecartier forest, (25 minutes), ride in a miniature Mississippi boat or take a cruise on the lake. Visit the zoo, maze and château at La Bourbonsais (25 minutes), or the Grand Aquarium in St Malo. There is so much to do and see here in Brittany, you will be able to try something different every day. All of the local towns offer a huge choice of restaurants, whether you are looking for a lively atmosphere in the old walled town of St Malo or a more peaceful location by the river, you will be able to find it. Most of these towns have at least one market a week and during the summer months brocantes (antiques/ bric-a-brac fairs) and vide-greniers (car boot sales) are held somewhere nearly every day.
