Bed and Breakfast with pool in the Dordogne
Razac-d'Eymet, 17 km from Bergerac, in Southwest France
3 double rooms with en suite shower rooms. Private Fishing Lake.

Le Beuil Villa

Our villa overlooks its own private lake 6 km from the lovely bastide town of Eymet in the Dordogne, about 17 km from Bergerac and the airport. Come and breakfast on the terrace overlooking the lake on a warm summer morning whilst watching the kingfishers, ducks and moorhens, relax by the pool on a sun lounger and listen to nothing but peace and quiet and fish in the lake to your heart's content.

There are beautiful walks through the meadows and vines that surround the house. The food in the area is superb, arguably the best in France. The gastronomic delights of the Dordogne include truffles, duck and goose, foie gras and pâtés, all on reasonably priced menus in many restaurants locally. In addition there are numerous markets in the area to visit, which will give you a great insight to French cuisine. Eymet has a variety of restaurants, including a very good Italian one in the main square that does excellent pizza, pasta, steak and salads. The market is every Thursday and during July and August, there is also an evening market on Tuesday.

The villa has two double rooms and one twin room bed and breakfast. All our rooms are decorated in pastel colours and have their own en-suite shower rooms. Each room has tea and coffee facilities and private access. There is also a spacious lounge to relax in and a dining room.

The swimming pool has a terraced area where sun-loungers, tables, chairs and barbeque equipment are provided for our guests and plenty of room for children to play in the adjoining meadow. The villa has wheelchair access and private parking. The lake has a maximum placement of 4 anglers with a maximum of 2 rods per person and is stocked with carp, roach and hybrid fish. Day or night fishing is available when the season allows. The season is from March to November.

The Area

The wines around Bergerac are world famous and may be sampled from vineyards close by. One of the most famous wine producing chateaux in the area is Monbazillac. Some of the best known chateaux in the Dordogne including Chateau de Lanquais, Chateau de Losse, Chateau de Hautefort and Chateau de Castelnaud.

There is no better way to experience the peace and beauty of the Dordogne Valley than by hiring a canoe or taking a river cruise, depending on how the mood takes you. Along the way, you will see some of the most picturesque villages in the Dordogne, some of which have literally been carved out of the cliffs and enjoy the wildlife of the river. There are riding stables, where you can hire horses to go trekking and quiet country lanes for cycling and walking. Bicycles can be hired locally.

The nearest golf course at Chateau des Vigiers, about 30 minutes away, was designed by Donald Steel who is considered to be one of the very best 'natural' golf course architects. He created this unique 18-hole, par 72 course in its enthralling setting amidst plum trees, oak woods, lakes and vineyards. It is maintained with short rough, promoting quick play and accessibility for higher handicaps. However, the greens are frequently lightning fast and prove a test for any golfer and with strategic pin positions and longer rough, the course is a challenge for the best.
