Lacombe
Lacombe is a delightful farmhouse set in seven acres bordering the River Lot, in the beautiful Lot-et-Garonne region of South West France. Enjoy sundowners on our private pontoon on the river or by pool, watch rowers and canoeists go by or even take a canoe out yourself, if you are feeling energetic. The river also boasts large carp for intrepid fisherman!
The village market in Sainte Livrade-sur-Lot, (which is only a few minutes by car), is held every Friday, where the local farmers sell their fruit and vegetables, wines, cheeses, flowers and loads of other homemade goodies! The town of Villeneuve-sur-Lot, which is approximately a 15 minute drive away, holds their market on a Saturday morning in the main square - also highly recommended!! Villeneuve also has a variety of wonderful little boutique shops to browse through. There are a number of excellent restaurants in the area with menus providing superb dishes of salads, fish, steak, cheeses and desserts at reasonable prices.
Ideal as a stop on the way North or South or for a few days relaxation, our double room has an en suite shower room, television and its own private entrance. Breakfast is served in the garden on warm days and dinner is available on request. We are on hand if there is anything you need to know about the area. The Area
You can easily spend a leisurely few days visiting some of the pretty bastides towns such as Monflanquin, Villereal, Pujols and Penne d'Agenais or visit the vineyards of Buzet, Duras, Cahors and Bordeaux, all within an hour's drive of Lacombe. The beautiful medieval town of Saint-Emilion is just Northeast of Bordeaux. The magnificent Atlantic beaches along the coast, where you can climb the highest dune in Europe, are in the Landes, about two hours from here. The gourmet bounty of this area is truly world class. Local menus often start with foie gras followed by delicious magret de canard. Duck is one of the mainstays of Lot-et-Garonne cuisine, served in rich fruit or wine sauces and washed down with ripe Buzet or Duras wines, followed by a tot or two of armagnac. Leafy restaurant terraces, often with great views over the surrounding countryside, offer excellent prices and generous portions. Travel Information
