Provence House With Pool in the Var
Garéoult, between Hyères and Saint Tropez
4 bedrooms, sleeps up to 7 people
La Maison
Our house overlooks hills and vines and is surrounded by a garden with shady trees and a swimming pool. We are in the heart of Provence, just outside the village of Garéoult, 30 minutes from the sea and beaches along the Mediterranean coast at Hyères, Le Lavandou, Bormes-les-Mimosas and, a little further, St Tropez, Ramatuelle, Bandol and Sainte Maxime. It is quiet and private here and pleasantly cool during long hot days.
Garéoult has a choice of shops including a supermarket within walking distance of the house and a market every Tuesday morning, full of fresh local produce, chatter and life. Restaurants like the Auberge de la Loube, are within easy driving distance. Marseille is an hour from here, Toulon 30 minutes. The living room of the house is divided into a salon area with a fireplace, television and a music centre, a dining area and a corner study area, which leads out onto a covered terrace overlooking the pool. There is also a downstairs shower room and separate wc.
The kitchen is fully equipped and includes a dishwasher, oven and hob, fridge/freezer, microwave, kettle, toaster and coffee maker. The utility/laundry room has a washing machine and ironing facilities. Upstairs are 4 bedrooms. The first has twin beds with adjustable head and foot control, a large wardrobe and television. The second bedroom is a double room in the style of Louis XV. The third room is Art Deco in style with two single beds and a wardrobe. The fourth room has a single bed and a wardrobe. A cot can be provided on request and a hairdryer. There is a large family bathroom with a separate wc. Outside is a large garden, a terrace with poolside furniture, a barbecue and there is a security gate leading to the pool.
The Area
All through the year, huge festivals are held in different places on the coast; the Cannes Film Festival, the Ramatuelle Festival in August, the Saint Tropez Regatta for classic ocean racing sail boats in October and, in December, the Saint Tropez Christmas Festival. Saint Tropez is surrounded by huge beaches with every kind of water sport facility available. There is also an excellent golf course and another at Sainte Maxime. Saint Tropez has a stylish, relaxed atmosphere and has long been favoured as an all year round place to visit. Perched in the hills behind Saint Tropez is the old village of Grimaud, peaceful and unchanged with lovely arcaded houses and a pretty Romanesque church. Along long the coast towards Hyères is Le Lavendou, a charming little fishing port with a marina, named after the lavender fields cultivated along the river. Aix-en Provence, the Saturday morning market and the fabulous Cours Mirabeau at the center of town, is roughly 40 minutes from here. Travel Information
