The Area
Hire a canoe/kayak in Bergerac for a day on the river to or from various bases along the River Dordogne. A minibus will take you back your point of departure. Experience a trip in a Perigord Gabarres (wood boats) along the Dordogne river from Bergerac and other interesting towns nearby. We are in easy reach of several golf courses, go-karting, horse riding, an Aqua-Park, swimming pools, ten pin bowling. There are acres of vineyards to the south and forests to the north. Visit the many historic bastide towns and chateaux in the area. Perhaps you know the story of Cyrano de Bergerac? You will find his statue in the center of the town. There is also a wine and tobacco museum and a "Route de Vin" where you can go wine tasting at the many local chateaux, including the famous St Emilion, Monbazillac, Pécharmant, Bergerac and more. Maybe you are interested in gardens, prehistoric caves or the famous Chateau des Milandes (Josephine Baker)? Leave the car behind for a day and take a train from Bergerac to Bordeaux to the west, with its new tram system to view the fine architecture and shops, or go Sarlat to the east, a fine medieval town.
