Luxury Bed & Breakfast in the heart of South West France
Mazamet, near Carcassonne, in the Midi Pyrenees
5 bedrooms with bathrooms. Swimming pool. Dinner available on request.

La Villa de Mazamet

La Villa de Mazamet is a beautifully restored 1930's villa, situated in a quiet residential area of the market town of Mazamet. Guests have a choice of five en suite bedrooms, appointed with the amenities normally the reserve of fine hotels: fine linens, thick mattresses, flat screen television with DVD player, iPod docking station and free WiFi high speed Internet connection, not to mention essentials like tea and coffee making facilities, hairdryer, iron and ironing board.

All bedrooms have views over the Montagne Noire mountain range, which sits in the Languedoc National Park with walking, mountain biking, fishing, swimming, tennis and golf available within a 10 minute drive. Set within a private walled garden with a swimming pool and sun terraces, La Villa is an ideal base from which to explore all that the Midi Pyrenees and neighbouring Languedoc Roussillon have to offer.
We are 45 minutes from Carcassonne airport and just over an hour to Toulouse. Reaching Mazamet is very easy with regular bus and train connections from Toulouse to 200 metres from our front door!

Mazamet itself has a variety of bars and restaurants, which are within walking distance, added to which three weekly markets take place Saturdays, Sundays and Tuesdays, featuring local produce that is grown or raised in the Tarn. Within an hour’s drive, Carcassonne, Albi, Castres and Toulouse can be explored and a little further away, the towns of Narbonne, Bézier and Perpignan. Just that little further (three hours by car) is the Catalan city of Barcelona.

Guests have a choice of five bedrooms, classified as Classic, Deluxe and Superior. The bathrooms have deep bathtubs, drench showers, fine Egyptian cotton towels and robes with toiletries by L'Occitane.

Classic on the first floor, provide twin or super-king beds, en suite bathrooms with deep bath and drench shower over.

Superior (first floor), have a private balcony overlooking gardens and mountains, en suite bathrooms with deep bath and drench shower over.

Deluxe on the second floor, overlook the mountains and have a king-sized bed, large bathroom suites with roll-top bath, separate walk in shower and twin washbasins.

A small library of books and DVDs, TV lounge, and breakfast room is available for guests to enjoy. Start your day off with freshly baked pastries and breads, home made preserves, local cheese and meat board, freshly squeezed juices and a selection of teas or coffee as you like it.

Dinner is available on request. Your evening will commence with drinks in the garden or lounge before dining on the region’s finest, freshest ingredients. The menu includes appetisers, starter, main course, cheese and dessert. The wine list concentrates on grape varieties from some of South West France's best vineyards and, being close to Roquefort, guests can be assured of a fantastic cheese board too! Please inform us of any special dietary requirements in advance.

We will happily prepare a choice of refreshments for you to enjoy throughout your stay from snacks by the pool, to a picnic hamper for your day exploring the area.

The private walled gardens provide space to relax and read, or use the facilities of the swimming pool and sun terrace on those long, hot summer days. La Villa also provides guests with a small spa with a sauna, Jacuzzi and a choice of massage treatments.

The Area

Within a short ten minute drive, the Montagne Noire provides an ideal playground for those who love the outdoors; walking, fishing, tennis, mountain biking are all readily available. Five kilometres from here is the local golf club, a beautiful tree-lined course with the mountains as a stunning backdrop (we can help arrange a tee time).
The main lakes, where boating, waterskiing, jet skiing and sailing take place, are around a 40 minute drive, passing through medieval villages and wonderfully lush scenery.

There really is something for everyone to in the local area from gastronomic breaks, visiting vineyards and medieval hill top villages, to wandering through city streets, exploring shops and galleries.
