The Area
Some of the wine villages within a short drive include Husseren Les-Châteaux, a village that has exceptional views over the vineyards and is an ideal starting point for many walks and hikes. Obermorschwihr nestles beneath the Vosges hills and is famous for its church with a half-timbered bell-tower, unique in the region. Voegtlinshoffen lies at the foot of a pink sandstone cliff in Vosges and is renowned for its wines, in particular "Hatschbourg Grand Cru". This village is an ideal starting point for walks in the forest of Stauffen or Schauenberg. Wettolsheim is a leading wine town where you can find a complete range of Alsatian wines and holds a gastronomic wine festival in July. Colmar has an International Music Festival in July and a huge wine festival in August. In late September Eguisheim holds a festive ball to celebrate the wine harvest. Everyone is invited.
