Property Details The house is idyllically situated in beautiful Dordogne countryside near Monpazier, a village that has remained almost unchanged since the Middle Ages. Monpazier is a classic example of a bastide village with a quiet charm, at the centre of which, is the market square surrounded by a wide covered arcade with shops, cafés and restaurants. Villereal is 11 kms from the house, a small country town dating from the 12th century, which has a larger selection of shops and supermarkets. Bergerac airport is 30 minutes. The house has spacious rooms with tiled floors, oak beams and oil-fired central heating. The living room is particularly attractive with exposed stone walls and a large open fireplace, partially separated from the kitchen dining room. The kitchen is fitted with an oven and hob, fridge and dishwasher.
Leading from the kitchen is a splendid 70m2 conservatory with large sliding doors and windows on three sides, which houses a 9 metre long, fully tiled, grand piano shaped, heated and floodlit swimming pool. The pool has wide integral steps down to a depth of 1 metre, which then slopes to 1.7 metres, making it safe for all ages. There are sitting areas at both ends of the pool, one of which leads to the garden, the other is raised decking overlooking the pool. Oil fired or electric heating to 30 degrees any time all year and dehumidifier. The master bedroom has an ensuite bathroom/dressing room with a separate wc. The bedroom opens into a large room opening into the garden with a fireplace and a guest wc with washbasin, which can be used as a second bedroom or dining room. The second floor has another 100 m2 of space, which can be restored to make further living accommodation. Fifteen yards from the main house is a detached two story guest cottage, which is electrically heated. There is a ground floor sitting room and a shower room with washbasin and wc and an upstairs double bedroom. A three roomed outbuilding with a tiled covered terrace that supports a beautiful wisteria, houses a laundry room, workshop and garden equipment. There is a well stocked garden of approximately 1000 m2 with six automatically controlled lights, and a double garage. Both the Dordogne and the Lot-et-Garonne have rivers and lakes where you can fish or hire canoes and off the beaten track, is a countryside of chestnut woods and hidden valleys and hamlets, orchards, the odd field of sunflowers in summer, ancient sleepy villages, hills and verges with drifts of wild flowers in Spring and, around Bergerac, the vineyards.
