A 16th Century Country Estate in the Pays de la Loire
Main House, Second House and Several Cottages on Four Hectares of Land

Property Details

The Logis is set in approximately ten acres of gardens and pastureland. A rare example of its kind, the Logis dates from the 16th century and is quietly situated in the countryside near a village, 30 minutes from Angers and Saumur, in the Main-et-Loire.

Grouped around a courtyard, the property comprises an attractive main house, presently run professionally as a chambres d'hôtes bed and breakfast, which has a long established reputation. There are two further rooms in one of the buildings beside the house, three self-contained holiday cottages with 1, 2 or 3 bedrooms and a huge reception room that can accommodate up to 90 people seated. The whole property is fully restored and in excellent overall condition. Ideal as a ready made business or as a private family home.

The village is a ten minute drive from here (7 km) and has a choice of shops and restaurants, a swimming pool and tennis courts that are open to everyone. There are riding stables in the forest and not far is a play park, which children love. Another 10 minutes away is an international standard golf course and a lake where anyone can spend the day fishing.

The Logis has two floors and is centrally heated. The ground floor comprises:
A kitchen with a beamed ceiling, a living room and dining area, a large double bedroom and a bathroom and wc.

A back kitchen/utility room that acts as a laundry room, boiler room and general storage area.

The two rooms upstairs are accessed via outside stone steps dated 1556. These two rooms have not been occupied since that period and are used mainly for storage. The tiled floors, stone walls and beams are therefore completely original (fully maintained and treated) and can be restored to provide further living space.

At the back of the Logis is a tower with two communicating ‘gardes-robes’ that have charming vaulted doors.

The Main House has nine bedrooms in total, six of which are used as bed and breakfast rooms, all with en suite shower rooms, a vast reception room (120m2) and a well equipped semi-professional kitchen. The house has all the usual security systems, is operational and ready to continue as a bed and breakfast business.

The Gite Cottages comprise:
A 17th Century Chapel alongside the main house with a splendid troglodyte salon, a corner kitchen and a downstairs wc. Upstairs are two double bedrooms with shower rooms.

An independent self-contained studio, in the longhouse next to the chapel.

Le Petit Logis, the smaller house on the other side of the courtyard, which has three bedrooms, each with en-suite shower rooms, a living room and kitchen.

The property is situated in four hectares of lawns, an orchard and a meadow with open views over unspoilt countryside. Behind the main buildings are a number of extraordinary ancient trogladyte dwellings.

The whole property is ideal for those who wish to maintain it as a holiday location, which produces an income or as a private family home. Much of the furniture and kitchen equipment is included in the price.
